GENERAL UPDATES
Round 10 of the Leinster League Div 1A and Bective keep up the pressure on our rivals with a great bonus point win away at Athy. It was mostly one way traffic in a fantastic 5 try first half performance by Bective to lead 29 – 7 at the break. Athy showed their quality in the second half with a spirted fightback making Bective work their socks off to keep our opponents at bay. So no change at the top of the league as Bective lead by 5 points from Seapoint as we head into 2 critical matches for the club before the Ireland v England ‘6 Nations’ weekend break. First up it’s Ashbourne at home in the league this Saturday and then on Saturday 25th January it’s the ‘Energia IRFU All- Ireland Jnr. Cup Final’ against Enniskillen. It’s important that we have boots on the ground for both these vital matches to support the players and keep the momentum going.
Always remember your support is key to the team’s success.

Bective mourns the passing of Tony de Lacy
Bective Club President and all the Members offer their condolences to the family of Club Member Tony de Lacy who died on 14th January.
Tony played on the right wing at Newbridge College when they won the Leinster Schools Senior Cup in 1959. He and six of his fellow past pupils joined Bective when he left school.
In Bective Tony became a highly regarded referee and was President of the Leinster Referees in 1997/98 and then was elected as President of the Leinster Branch in 2002/03. Since then he was a referee's assessor and gave guidance and support to those following in his footsteps.

Results:
U10's HOME V Coolmine - Tommy Sheehy's U10's teams welcomed Coolmine to Donnybrook on Sunday. There were some fiercely competitive matches played with both teams playing some great rugby and scoring some brilliant tries. Bective was well tested by a strong Coolmine outfit.
U11's HOME V Belvo - Our U11's welcomed our neighbours Old Belvo to Donnybrook on Sunday. This group have really developed brilliantly under the guidance of Head Coach Colin Gaffney. They continue to compete against all the top clubs in their age grade. Again they played some superb rugby scoring some excellent tries.
U14's HOME V Barnhall - Another superb win for the U14's team winning 31 - 0 - 5 tries and 3 conversions. This team are performing superbly well in the league.

The 3rd Annual Mini's Ball will take place on Saturday 25th January. Once again it is sold out with 160 parents and coaches attending.
Walk on the Wild Mountain Side
The 14th Annual Memorial Walk takes place on Sunday 26th January 2025.
We’ll depart Johnny Fox’s Pub @ 9.00 and arrive at Donnybrook (Bective Rangers FC) for brunch @ 1.00/1.30 pm.
This great hike has spectacular views of Dublin Bay and the Wicklow Mountains. It isn't an overly challenging walk, but it is a good workout.
All are welcome to join us!

The Annual Club Dinner is on Friday, February 28th in the Clubhouse, Donnybrook
Reception 7pm | Dinner 8pm sharp | Tickets €60pp.

Paid up members have collected their Membership Books and any that weren’t collected have been posted out to members.
If you haven’t paid your membership fee for this season, it’s not too late to do it now. Subscriptions are the most important revenue for the ongoing running of our club.

BECTIVE MEN’S SHED
The ‘Bective Men’s Shed’ is for those retired members who can give an hour or two on a Thursday to devote to maintenance and development of our premises and for a meet up for tea/coffee. We are keen to develop the rear of the pavilion so that it can be used during the summer months for outside eating/drinking and the group are currently working on this project. The Men’s Shed meets on Thursdays at 12 noon in the clubhouse.
